				The Judge (2014) DVD ~ Robert Downey Jr. Price: $9.99		36 used & new from $4.42
From The Redbox Kiosk At My Job, September 30, 2015 This review is from: The Judge (2014) (DVD) The Judge stars Robert Downey Jr. as lawyer Henry Hank Palmer who is gifted at his job but has to deal with his personal life changing before his eyes. The beginning of the movie shows Henry having a deep heated discussion with his wife Lisa Palmer (Sarah Lancaster) over an intimate encounter she had with an old flame after he discovers that she sadly plans on divorcing him. However, Henry loves his daughter Lauren (Emma Tremblay)dearly and this is one of the areas that provides a strong source of comfort to him after he ends up visiting his dad Judge Jospeh Palmer (Robert Duvall) and his brothers Glen (Vincent D’Onofrio)and Dale Palmer (Jeremy Strong) due to a death in the family. Henry’s daughter Lauren is naturally nervous about her parents divorcing because two of her friends named Megan and Caitlin have parents who also divorced so naturally Lauren is concerned as to how she is going to fare. The tension is at first so great between Henry Palmer and his father Jospeh Palmer that his father at first hires Attorney C..P. Kennedy (Dax Shepard) even though his own son is a gifted trained lawyer with experience in the court case he faces. This is a big deal because a no holds barred prosecutor by the name of Dwight (Billy Bob Thornton) is known for his tough stances on participants that he is not defending. Judge Joseph Palmer is implicated in a hit and run situation with his car and what complicates the situation is a blood alcohol content of 0.23 (which I think the movie states was found in the father’s victim). In the midst of this Henry Palmer also runs into his old flame Samantha Powell (Vera Farmigia) who runs her own restaurant and has a daughter who happens to be a Georgetown University Law student Carla Powell (Leighton Meester). One of the things that I do enjoy about the movie is that The Judge portrayed how even an accomplished and successful lawyer such as Henry Hank Palmer cares about his dad but is also trying to strengthen a closer connection with his father. Fortunately, my adoptive father knows that I’m grateful that he adopted me and legally claimed me as his daughter (when I was between 11-13 years old) even though I’m not biologically his regardless of what happens. However, watching The Judge was unexpectedly healing to me because it showed how even such an ambitious man such as Henry Palmer in a prestigious occupation cannot always have it all in the way of both a perfect family life and professional life. The special feature of The Judge dvd is titled Getting Deep With Dax Shepard. Shepard interviews Robert Downey Jr., Vincent D’Onofrio and Billy Bob Thornton during this segment. Some interesting facts; Vincent D’Onofrio has known Robert Downey Jr. since he was a kid. Billy Bob Thornton’s wife has a crush on Dax Shepard. There are movie trailers within this dvd for American Sniper starring Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, and directed by Clint Eastwood. There are also movie trailers for Jupiter Ascending, Horrible Bosses 2, and In The Heart of The Sea.  Comment | Permalink

This review is from: How to Start a Home-Based Catering Business, 5th (Home-Based Business Series) (Paperback) How To Start A Home Based Catering Business by Denise Vivaldo contains both some information form the author’s background in her journey towards opening her own catering business as well as advice and tips. For instance, Vivaldo shares opportunities for food catering (such as hotels, country clubs, yachts, restaurants, charter yachts, airlines etc).. She also shared some of the lessons she learned from her first catering experience- apparently one of her waitresses left with one of the most attractive male guests, she unexpectedly spent more than she initially collected, and had to at first do the dishes alone. She also touches on territory on areas such as Sales and Marketing when it comes to operating a catering business (starts on page 109). She also gives some food recipes such as Lemony Rice Pilaf (page 204) and Chocolate Walnut Biscotti (page 205).  Comment | Permalink

Sirena is a beautiful trance/electronic tune that appears to be about two people finding comfort and solace in each other. Dignified Jade Remix, September 30, 2015 This review is from: Be Right There (MP3 Music) Be Right There by Diplo & Sleepy Tom is an electronic dance song that I first heard on an iheartradio station affiliated with Pete Tong. This song appears to be about making it clear with somebody that you intend to be there for them as long as they avoid walking way. Be Right There by Diplo & Sleepy Tom seems to be a polite music tribute to the 90’s classic R&B and dance mashup hit Don’t Walk Away by Jade.  Comment | Permalink

First Heard on Nadia Ali iheart Radio Station, September 30, 2015 This review is from: Disarm You (feat. Ilsey) (MP3 Music) Disarm You by Kaskade feat. Ilsey seems to be a romantic type of trance/electronic song that appears to be about wanting to get close to someone but the singer is aware that the other person’s guard is up (i.e the disarm lyric). I understand that the meaning could be about something else but I’m guessing that the song could also be about wanting to journey with someone (metaphorically speaking) to a more spiritually uplifting place in life.  Comment | Permalink

Strong Music Effort by Jimmy Eat World, September 30, 2015 This review is from: Sweetness (MP3 Music) I remember first hearing Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World around 2005/2006 when I was living in Florida. This song is far from a romantic alternative rock song to listen to but the vocals and the music go together to create a harmonic blend of a song about a person feeling a certain way that is different from what their targeted interest is feeling (from what is listed online). Chela is a relaxing indie, electronic, and chillout tune that appears to be a musical story about reminiscing about someone that you knew from your past. Courtesy of My Mother In Law, September 30, 2015 This review is from: Mountain House, Lasagna with Meat Sauce (Sports) This packet of Mountain House Lasagna with Meat Sauce came out tasting better than I expected with tomato sauce that helped strongly enhance the moistness of the lasagna noodles. The only caveat is that one may want to have some Italian or basil seasoning on hand to enhance the Mountain House lasagna to give it that added zing.  Comment | Permalink Shake Shack $$  Burgers, Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt, Breakfast & Brunch 50 Massachusetts Ave NE Washington, DC 20002 9/30/2015  Updated review I went back to eat at the Union Station location of Shake Shack this past  Monday (the Washington D.C. location)when I was hanging out with a friend.  I had a sprite drink, the Shack Stack which is a delicious giant mushroom stuffed with muenster and cheddar cheeses and a cheese burger combined in one. Their fries were fresh and the helping of American and cheddar cheese sauce that they gave me on the side to dip my fries in completed out what was a toothsome meal. Last, but not least, the cashier who took my order was both friendly and polite, plus I got my order pretty fast.

I’m grateful to be relaxing today because I’m off work tonight and hanging out with a friend in a few hours. However, I truthfully must avoid weighing in on this because I’m not a parent and I understand that only other parents (both wealthy and poor)can truly judge this. I admit that the divorce news between Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani was actually shocking to me because I thought that they would last as a couple partially because of both the love for their kids and their wealth that would afford them time to spend time together while having the nannies look after the kids on their date nights out.  In addition, I’m guessing from the news story that he probably wanted to stay married both out of love for his wife and for their children (not saying that she didn’t want to either).  It is just that the reason why I want to avoid passing judgement on either party (Gavin Rossdale or Gwen) is because it is written in the article that Gavin Rossdale is partially asking for the financial support to help compensate for the years he looked after their kids as a stay at home dad while supporting Gwen Stefani in financially building up her brand. Additionally, Gavin Rossdale is definitely not going to be the last father asking for spousal support due to the increased expectation in our society that the father may be expected to stay home for the kids if the mother figure is making more money (as the emphasis increases on the high status of women becoming both financially successful career women as well as mothers).  I emphasize that I obviously see nothing wrong with a mother making more money than her partner as he or she stays home to look after their kids (i.e.  stay home parent whether the mother or father is doing it). I’m just saying that as an outside observer looking in that this is obviously going to continue to happen in increasing numbers as the years go by with the stay home father phenomenon becoming even more popular in wealthy families in both this century and beyond.

I actually received some informative details recently that many job hires new to an industry can sometimes leapfrog past other applicants due to their connections and/or relationships to others based in the field that they are trying to pursue. Obviously, a manager discreetly in the process of looking at various opportunities (either inside or outside the company)may more likely have different network and friendship connections than the same person at the non-management level (whether also looking for other opportunities within their company and/or in the process of switching careers). However, the only caveat to following the advice in this article rests on being able to homestead in the same area long-term (which is very possible to do if a person works in the privae sector and/or is only in the military part-time). However, homesteading may be trickier for people who in certain jobs that may be ok with staying in a certain area but may be required to move every 2-3 years (such as those in the active duty military, I have met some who got to stay in the same area for a long period of time while I met a male who greatly enjoyed his time in the navy and wanted to stay in but was  planning on getting out of the navy because he wanted to stay in Florida but he was being forced to leave Florida and get stationed overseas). He told me that it was also because he had just bought a house in Florida that he was hesitant to give up (even with him being on active duty navy).

I concur with the others on the positives of this article, especially the healing affirmation as I’m in the process of increasing my feelings of worthiness. I’m also in the process of working on listening to my intuition better to knock on the right doors at the right time (lately I have knocked on good opportunities but had to keep searching due to a situation with either needing a car and/or more frequent availability). For example, I received a call back to where the person was actually fine with me searching out a second job opportunity. However, I was unable to take it because of the car issue (on the plus side she said that would still keep me in mind for the future in the case I’m able to purchase a car sooner rather than later). I’m humbly grateful to have directly seen the issue and to have been considered for the 2nd job issue, but I know that I only have myself to blame because I understand that it is my responsibility to knock on the right doors at the right time for me. Additionally, I intuitively figured out that one of my other blocks was making sure to make up my mind on what state and area I intend to live in long-term regardless of my income and set a deadline for taking action on  moving to the area regardless of what I have lined up (I finally have my mind made up on the relocation issue but I must keep it secret for now for both practical and spiritual reasons especially because  I promised my husband I would at least stay in this area for this year regardless of how my professional situation transpires)

This is very encouraging! At 56 I am six months into my third career, in nonprofit communications (albeit it is an extension of work I did as a consultant for decades) . The one thing I notice is that the women profiled are almost all in fashion. Wondering what careers have taken off after a woman turned 50 in other fields? One example is the already successful Arianna Huffington, who started Huffington Post in her early 50s. NOW look!!
