Upscale Heaven Experiences?,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Heaven Can Wait/Defending Your Life (DBFE) (DVD)
This Double Feature Set of Heaven Can Wait and Defending Your Life appears to touch more on upper class living on earth and having an upper class experience in heaven (more on the explanation in a little bit). This is important because in comparison, the City of Angels and the Michael films (which are also good) focus more on middle class living as it intersects spirituality. For instance, Heaven Can Wait involves a man named Joe Pendleton (Warren Beatty) who unexpectedly dies at a young age and definitely wasn’t emotionally ready to go. It turns out that one of the angels in the heaven’s celestial escort group named Mr. Jordan agreed with him (James Mason) ( because Pendleton’s death date was originally given to be March 20,2025). One of the angels (Buck Henry) had accidently pulled Pendleton’s spirit from his body before he was meant to go. The first part of what gives Heaven Can Wait an upper class feel was that he was at first supposed to board a what looks to be a pristine model airplane in one of the waystations of heaven to his final destination. The other element that gives Heaven Can Wait an opulent feel is the lifestyle that Pendleton is allowed to re-incarnate back into while the celestial life escort groups figures out how to deal with his destiny. Pendleton is allowed to incarnate in the body of a multi-millionaire named Leo Farnsworth who was the target of a murder attempt by his wife Julia Farnsworth (Dyan Cannon) and her lover and one of Farnsworth employees Tony Abbott (Charles Grodin). Pendleton unexpectedly starts to enjoy his new life as Leo Farnsworth and even falls in love with a woman named Betty Logan (Julie Christie). Being the kind spirit he is, Pendleton does not even kick his wife out after the murder attempt. However, the movie does foreshadow what could happen because Pendleton is shown trying to bargain with the angels on extending his life especially now that he wants to be around for Betty Logan and he has discovered a renewed passion for his life after finding and convincing Max Corkle (Jack Warden) to help him get back into the NFL. The only catch is that I did not see any dvd extras associated with Heaven Can Wait although there are audio options in English or French. As for the Defending Your Life, I remember having the good fortune of first discovering and watching this movie in 2014. I caught so much more out of Defending Your Life the second time I watched it and the Defending Your Life Dvd does have some extras (but first my interpretation of the movie). Albert Brooks plays the part of Daniel Miller, a successful Los Angeles ad executive who unexpectedly dies in a car crash after colliding with a bus. Before his surprise death, the movie opened with glimpses of the successful and accomplished life that he was living. Daniel Miller finds himself in a gorgeous sunny afterlife called Judgement City where there is so much to do (golf courses, bowling alleys, comedy clubs) and he could eat the best food and however much he wants damage free to his physical body. He stays inside the Continental Hotel and sees ads in an elevator that I noticed this time, but missed last time such as for the International Planetarium with the slogan the universe as it really is by Dr. Theodore Mcallister with shows at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 (and a picture of what looks to be the space or galaxy of either a shooting comet or shooting star). There is also the ad of the Judgement City’s oldest comedy club one block east of towne center. Daniel Miller’s time in Judgement City is not all leisure because he is called to meet Bob Diamond (Rip Torn) who explains that he has to appear before a panel of judges to determine if he is ready to move on the next phase involving his spiritual development. The panel includes 2 judges (George D. Wallace and Lillian Lehman) and a person named Lena Foster (Lee Grant)who questions Daniel Miller if he overcame his fear enough. In the midst of it all, Daniel Miller unexpectedly falls in love with a self-confident and warm woman named Julia (Meryl Streep). Julia’s time on earth earned her a stay at the Majestic Hotel. She too has to go through the judgement chambers, but seems to easily be more relaxed about whatever happens. The develop a mutual romantic attraction to each other and have a chance to spend some time together. One of my favorite parts of the movie was where they got together on one of the buses in Judgement city after their shared time at the Past lives pavilion. One of Daniel Millers past lives as a dressmaker intersected with one of Julia’s lives as a tailor (played with the idea in a fun way on how who you spend your future lives traces very much to both recent and/or past lives). I also like the scene where it was described really well on what their idea of overcoming fear is (in a scene where Daniel Miller meant to ask his boss for at least $65,000 per year but accepted $49,000 instead). Additionally, the scene where Miller passed up an investment opportunity in casio watches that could have turned his ten thousand dollars into at least 37 million dollars unexpectedly made me think of maybe the connection between my life and the things that I may have been unconsciously investing in. There is so much more I got out of this movie just after the second time of seeing it (and I’m glad to been able to finally buy it), but I intuitively and logically feel that it is time to move on to the bonuses; An image featuring the Judgement City Bowling Lane (the slogan of come bowl with us you’ll have a ball with 36 lanes open for 24 hours) the cast and crew listing to Defending Your life, and subtitles available in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, there are also various celebrity cameo appearances attributed to this film; Shirley Maclaine, James Eckhouse, Buck Henry, Glen Chin etc. Each of the movies (Heaven Can Wait and Defending Your Life) have their own disc (which culminates in a two disc set).

Myriad of Fashion Possibilities?,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ready To Wear (Amazon Instant Video)
I’m actually pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the Ready To Wear (Pret A Porter) and I’m glad to have bought it. The movie opens with a big-time fashion mogul unexpectedly dying. You actually see the people who were actually in contact with him minutes before his passing, however even the nature of his death at first poses a mystery. The fashion mogul’s death is a big deal because of the wealth and power that he had in the fashion world. As commonly known, there are a slew of famous actors, actresses, celebrities, and models in the film (which could take up the length of another review) such as Sophie Loren as Isabella De Fontaine, Julia Roberts as Ann Eisenhower,Kim Basinger, Cher, Naomi Campbell, Helena Christiansen, Terri Garr (I recently seen her in the Michael movie), Tracey Ullmann and as I said before many more famous people featured in this film. One must have an open mind because of the love scenes that are in this film. For instance, there is a hilarious scene where the characters of Cort Romney (Richard E. Grant), and Cy Bianco (Forest Whitaker) are caught by their lovers in a makeshift city bus in the middle of a fashion show when they also see that their lovers are also involved with each other (not so much just a love triangle but whatever it is called when four people are involved). There are also pop culture references in the film such as when three of the characters are introduced as employees of British Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar.

Strong Global Vibe Dance Trance Mix,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Global Djs-The Las Vegas Sessions (Audio CD)
Global DJs-The Las Vegas Sessions is a three cd set of 20 songs on each cd. What I like the most about this collection is the diversity of hits from both recent time periods and songs that came out a few years ago. For example, there is the inclusion of Don’t You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia (that came out in 2012) and a Dirty Talk by Wynter Gordon that came out in February 2010. There are then various songs that came out around the 2013 and 2014 time period such as features of Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Rey feat. & Cedric Gervais, Addicted To You by Avicii, Wizard by Martin Garrix & Jay Hardaway, Red Lights by Tiesto, This is What it Feels Like by Armin Van Burren & Trevor Guthrie, If I Lose Myself by One Republic & Alesso, Starlight (Could You Be Mine) by Matt Diablo &Matt Nash, I Got U by Duke Dumont feat. Jax Jones, and many more musicians/songs.

The Herbal Essences Totally Twisted curl conditioner does leave the hair feeling soft with a pleasant and fruity scent. This type of conditioner is also best if you can leave it in your hair for at least three to five minutes (if possible).

Folk And Coffee House Rock In Concert Format,
This review is from: At The Point (MP3 Music)
I admit that I was curious to hear At The Point by Matt Nathanson due to first hearing his song Come On Get Higher (back around 2008 when still residing in Norfolk Virginia). This music is in live concert format and captures moments of Nathanson explaining to the audience the inspiration for some of the songs that he is about to perform. Angel and I Saw are both two well planned songs to open his At The Point Collection. The one element I enjoyed about this collection is how well his voice meshed with the songs that were selected for At The Point.

Intense Music Needle,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Five Needle (MP3 Music)
Five Needle by Wynter Gordon showcases a musical spirit that communicates facing the trials of life in a dignified way. Against The Time (feat. Vince Staples), Bleeding Out, Higher,Home, and World On Fire are songs in some way that underscore a desire to have more out of life. For instance, in Home she sings about wanting a sense of meaningful love, Higher seems to capture a sense and ambitious desire to fly through life, and marking her place in life (i.e. with the lyrics we set the world on fire in the World of Fire song).

Spiritual Nourishment For The Heart,

This review is from: Chicken Soup for the Soul: Touched by an Angel: 101 Miraculous Stories of Faith, Divine Intervention, and Answered Prayers (Paperback)
Chicken Soup For The Soul Touched By An Angel; 101 Miraculous Stories of Faith, Divine Intervention, and Answered Prayers by Amy Newmark and Forward by Gabrielle Bernstein feature various stories for those who believe in celestial beings of the heavenly realms/higher forces of the light. For instance, there is a gladdening story on pages 236-238 of a woman who recalled how her son found spiritual comfort in the wake of his father’s death before he himself unexpectedly passed away a few weeks later. Pages 343-345 tell another touching story of a woman who was given a special glass gift by someone she was looking after and how she unexpectedly ran into this person years later.

Political Intrigue Book,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eighteen Acres: A Novel (Hardcover)
Eighteen Acres by Nicolle Wallace captures the energy and imagination of what the United States would potentially look like (albeit through a fictional lense) if a woman became the next President of the United States (the character of Charlotte Kramer). What also adds intrigue to Eighteen Acres is that the characters are written in a way that a person can easily imagine how the character might be if they were a real life version of what is written in Eighteeen Acres. For instance, the character of Melanie Kingston has been working in the White House for the past 14 years as the book opens (it is listed that she has been working there since she was 23 years old). Melanie Kingston was now White House Chief of Staff in the book and she had previous experience as a press secretary. For some reason, I can easily see her in real-life having both friends from both the political and academic circles within the Washington D.C. area and have friends ranging in backgrounds as diverse as songwriters, authors, and maybe even radio DJ’.s. Last, but not least, I can probably see a character such as Melanie Kingston participate in and eventually run a local Toastmaster’s chapter near wherever she lives (after she is no longer working in the White House). That is an example of how fleshed out the characters are made to be (in a positive way). Pop culture references also abound in the book such as with Dior bag, Tori Amos, Natalie Merchant, the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, the New York Times, and The Washington Journal.

A Blog Class In A Book,

This review is from: Blogging For Writers: How Authors & Writers Build Successful Blogs (Paperback)
Blogging For Writers; How Authors & Writers Build Successful Blogs by Robin Houghton contains information for aspiring and current writers such as;chapter five (content is king, what makes a brilliant blog post on page 72), Some website examples of authors who allowed their blogs to be shown (pages 94 and 95), Other Good Online Communities For Writers (pages 120 and 121). What I like about this book is that even though the information seems to be tailored a little more to those who are going to write under their real name, there is also information that aspiring writers who plan on using pen names can take away such as How To Be Found In Searches (pages 98 and 99).

From The Bread Section Aisle of My Job,
This review is from: THOMAS' LIMITED EDITION APPLE PIE PRE-SLICED ENGLISH MUFFINS, 6 COUNT (Misc.)
These Thomas Limited Edition Apple Pie Pre-Sliced English muffins (six count) do have a light cinnamon taste paired with the right amount of soft texture and apple taste. These taste really good with honey butter, although the Apple Pie English muffins also have a taste that some may find good enough without any butter or other spreads.

All Prostitutes Don’t Have Children?, August 5, 2015
This review is from: Tricked (DVD)
Tricked; A Shocking Look Inside America’s Sex Trade caught my interest due to me just wanting to be curious on why my late biological mother got caught up and seemingly stuck in what appears to be a dangerous profession. I must preface by making it clear that I do not have an interest in ever working in this field regardless of whether the prostitution trade was made legal or stayed illegal(attributed in part to how my adoptive parents raised me). The informative parts of this documentary; Law enforcement officials were interviewed in this documentary, a caseworker, various former prostitutes that are super young that seemingly escaped from the field, and some “pimps” themselves were interviewed. Some of the following facts of this documentary; Many girls are forced into prostitution around age 12, one featured in the documentary was as young as 11 years old. A caseworker was featured who was trying to help a 14 year old and her baby, but he was told that he and his wife were technically not allowed to help her out. At the end of the documentary, it is listed that she actually lost custody of her baby and was missing. Some other people featured; Dr. Shera Bradley a psychologist, Cindy a former Las Vegas escort, Mitch Morissey a Denver District Attorney, Hugh- a john, and Nikolas Kristoff a journalist. Then there is the discussion of what is called ‘A Players Ball’ that is held in Chicago where supposedly pimps and their girls get dressed in scantily clad clothing. There is also a scene of footage in Las Vegas Nevada and some Las vegas bar named the Chandelier. As per Karen Hughes of the Las Vegas Police-Las Vegas Nevada is a top destination for prostitution because of the glamour scene of Las Vegas and the amount of financial wealth that flows around. The other informative angle was that many of the young prostitutes featured bravely recounted what they endured and what happened along the way before they escaped. However, my caveat with this film, there were not much prostitutes featured who have kids (when it is common knowledge that many prostitutes are mothers whose young children are at risk of being the sexual targets of their mother’s clients and/or lovers). Additionally, the documentary could have been made stronger by also featuring women who were in their 30’s,40’s,50’s and maybe beyond. Last, but not least, there were not men or transgendered people featured in this documentary and it is also common knowledge that both male prostitutes and transgendered prostitutes are also at risk of suffering greatly in what is currently a dangerous profession across the United States (due to the common knowledge that prostitution is illegal in most parts of the United States). I’m reluctant to share my viewpoint because I already know that it most likely may not happen during my lifetime if ever, but after watching this documentary I do feel that the crimes involved with prostitution may decrease if prostitution is made legal across the United States (with the stipulations that the prostitutes are at least 17 or 18 years of age, the prostitutes are paid a minimum wage with taxes based on income and other rules necessary to make the profession safer). The reason for my viewpoint-more prostitutes would feel safe coming forward to law officials to report if they are being harmed by either their johns and/or pimps and the money that is taxed from prostitution can be used for greater good such as job retraining programs for prostitutes who are truly ready to leave the field and want to get into a more legitimate career and/or job that is a guaranteed employment vehicle to where they do not have to sell their body, safe childcare for children of prostitutes etc. I must avoid explaining more because this is not the forum for me to do so (anyone with further questions as to what I wrote can always send me a personal facebook message).
